I’m Jennifer Dunnett, a lifelong Langford resident, mom and public servant. I was born and raised here, and today I’m raising my daughters in the community I have always called home.

I became a mother at a young age, and that experience taught me what it means to take responsibility, work hard and keep moving forward. I was fortunate to have teachers and people in my community who encouraged me and helped me find my direction. Their support stayed with me, and it’s one of the reasons giving back to my community means so much to me.

I bring a decade of experience working in the BC provincial government and continue to work with the Province in the Ministry of Health. My previous experience includes working in an MLA’s office, the Premier’s and Ministers’ offices and BC Pension Corporation. My career has given me experience working with complex issues, strategic priorities, partnerships, and senior decision-making. I know how to bring different perspectives together, work through challenges and help move decisions forward. I’ve also completed a Leadership Certificate through Royal Roads University.

I’ve lived the reality of working hard to get ahead. I have rented my entire life and have never owned a home. I know what affordability means to a family because I’m living it too. I also commute downtown several days a week, so I experience the transportation challenges facing Langford firsthand.

Outside of work, my family and community are at the centre of my life. I love sports and recreation and spend a lot of time around my daughters’ activities. I love the outdoors, the ocean, fishing and hiking, and animals. I have two French bulldogs and a soft spot for Highland cows. I also believe in enjoying life, whether that’s spending time with family or having some fun at bingo or music bingo.

I’m practical, I listen and I believe good decisions come from respectful discussion, different perspectives and a willingness to find solutions. We don’t have to agree on everything to work together and move our community forward.

Most importantly, I care deeply about Langford. This is where I grew up, where I’m raising my family and where I want to give back.

I’m putting my name forward because I care so much about this community and I want to make a positive difference. I want my children to see their mom have the courage to step forward, contribute, and be part of making our community better. I want them to grow up believing that getting involved, having a voice and serving your community is something to be proud of.

I know the values I bring: hard work, honesty, compassion and a genuine commitment to Langford. I hope to earn your trust and have the opportunity to be a strong advocate and representative for the residents of Langford.
